I believe in the Road Not Taken, which explains how I went from being an artist, living life in the ‘fast lane’, to a rancher’s wife on a cattle/horse ranch in a small, remote part of Texas. I shelved my dreams of ‘bright lights and big city’ when I fell in love with my Venezuelan cowboy over a decade ago.
The country life I lead is anything but quiet, and I use our daily escapades as cannon fodder for this blog. I hope you’ll enjoy my attempts at recounting our Daily Circus! We do our best to pack a whole lot into each day, grateful and aware of our unique blessings. I do my best to share them with you here.
In 2006, I launched a tee-shirt company called Fab Farm Design, where I designed and printed custom tees with a western slant. I believe in ‘paying it forward’, and my shirts and their messages inspired women of all ages to be dream big and believe in themselves. Fab Farm’s grassroots campaign called BwhoUR started from the empowering messages on the shirts and my sincere belief that each of us has unique talents to share. My mantra “be who you are- be your best self” is something I try to live by everyday. Fab Farm was shelved in 2009 when I went back to work full time as a Museum Curator at the Sam Houston Memorial Museum on the campus of Sam Houston State University. Now my days are spent planning exhibits and interacting with the public instead of the 4-legged bovine and equine I had become accustomed to at the ranch, and life has taken a slight detour from what had become the ‘norm’.
