Beautiful Sunday at the ranch. It never hit 70 degrees, but darned near, and it was just a sunny and calm day. I ventured out to see the babies (well, they are certainly not ‘babies’ anymore, this crop of foals are SO BIG) and to take some pictures. They were so curious!
They are starting to grow some winter coats which I think is so cute. As I stood at the fence trying to catch them in cute poses, they were jockeying for position, trying to get my undivided attention. I almost got the sense that they were posing for the camera!
Good times. I love hanging out with the mares and their young, and it is even more fun for me when I have my own ‘little one’ along to share with me!
It’s time to feed the troops and throw the Kid into the bathtub. Iron uniforms and work clothes and pull a pumpkin bread out of the oven. The sun has gone down and it’s feeling late even though it is not yet 6pm and I’m already starting to yawn… G’night!

Your place looks gorgeous and so too do the babies!
Mmmm! pumpkin bread sounds pretty good too!
City girls didn’t have the chance to see mares or their babies, thank youi for sharing. They are beautiful animals and so gentle. Have you given them a “Jolly Ball” to paly with Casey? It was made for HORSES (didn’t know horses played with balls or toys)and perfect for Boxer’s who seem to take delight in gnawing, biting, chasing and playing as roughly as they want with this great ball. Alfie loves to hate his…he is still very puzzled about it deflating as long as it’s in his mouth and bounces back to normal the second he lets it go.
They are beautiful!! I read the other posts too and as for ‘them’ they are just full of fear. We had a pastor once a long time ago that told my husband that if people really knew him, they wouldn’t like him, or so he thought. It has stuck with me that people who need a mask just don’t have the confidence to let their freak flag fly, so I need to love them more. At least I try, I’m not very nurturing but I try.
Your life is beautiful and your family is amazing, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
